Well, add in a 90s drum synth, some mighty arrangements of meaty fiddle tunes, some songs, some wrong turns, battle scars earned busking the streets of Salisbury, a barrowload of end-of-the-pier banter and the feeling that your mad rum-soaked uncle is roaring at you to dance on the tables, then you’re getting close to what Ribble is about.

An original songwriter who draws on her love of the earth, life, and death for inspiration. With just a guitar and drum she uses dark gothic visuals, whilst singing softly and belting out her vocals in equal measure to captivate her audience.

Inspired by medieval and Celtic music heritage from across Europe, PerKelt blends many different genres into the characteristic sound they call ‘speed folk’; their fast, complicated, yet powerful rhythms and Celtic melodies have become their trademark over the years; reminiscent of progressive folk pioneers Jethro Tull.

A Different Thread

Some things are just meant to be. Alicia Best (US) and Robert Jackson (UK) met while busking on the cobbled streets of Ireland and discovered both a musical and personal harmony that was serendipitous. In the decade since forming A Different Thread, Best and Jackson have taken their act on the road, touring over a dozen countries, supporting artists such as Milk Carton Kids and Jody Stephens (Big Star), and garnering critical praise from the likes of Folk Radio UK, which hailed the duo as “warm, deep songwriters that have drank from the well of 20th century tradition.”

Headlining the opening night we have Roving Crows, multi award winning & un-missable IRISH FOLK ROCK. Roving Crows are an Irish Folk Rock band based in Herefordshire & Worcestershire. The Crows are a MUST SEE live act; a mix of fiery fiddle playing and conscious lyrics alongside driving drums and bass.

Ruban Yon’Ton

A session of Mesoamerican ritual music, Ruban uses drums, whistles, flutes, didgeridoo (in Mexico they call this instrument ompac, which is made from the very tall flower of a cactus) it is how he develops the music.

James J Turner

James J Turner is a critically acclaimed Folk-Rock Singer-Songwriter and Bardic Druid, with Arts Council England backing and one of the most unique and potent artists to emerge from the acoustic music scene in recent years. Peet Jackson
